Goole Town Tigers under 9 Blacks made their journey to Barlby High School for the World Cup Semi-Final against Barlby Raiders Green.
The team was on top form showing off their excellent passing skills.
It was a shame there had to be a losing team as both had given their all providing spectators with a thoroughly entertaining game of football on a pleasant sunny morning.
Nevertheless the Tigers fought hard winning 5-1 which sees them into the final against Garforth Rangers Blue on 12th May 2018 to be held at West Park, Goole.
Tigers got off to a great start scoring within the first 2 minutes of the game from a great corner put away by Logan Allen but the lead was short lived when Garforth Rangers Blue levelled the score on the 5 minute mark. Powering on Rangers scored again taking the lead just before the 15 minute mark.
Shortly after the interval Allen levelled the score yet again to 2-2
Tigers were then under tremendous pressure but with Karlson Thompson ,Jay Clarkson and Archie Barker in defence the tigers need not have worried as with their all brilliant defending cleared multiple attacks.
Ruben Henderson lead an attack playing the ball through to Allen who shot and went in off one of Rangers legs to take it to 3-2 just before the end of the second quarter.
Going into the 3rd quarter with high hopes with Allen taking the score to 4-2 but within second’s Rangers no6 made a solo run and pulled it back to 4-3.
Tigers were once again under enormous pressure with Artjom Bogdanovs pulling off save after save in the net been backed up with Ellis Ayles-Rawdon making a goal line clearance with a great block. Keagan Preston made some excellent runs linking up with Henderson. Rangers earned themselves another goal equalizing the score line to 4-4.
George Neal and Artjem Savicenka both played their parts on the wings putting in some outstanding tackles.
Going into the last quarter saw Rangers throw everything at the goal with all tigers defending extremely well keeping tigers in the game.
With 2 minutes left on the clock Tigers won a free kick which saw a scrappy clearance by Rangers with the ball landing at Kai Arrowsmith’s feet with one swift kick managed to place it straight into back of the net, seeing the tigers win gold and the cup in the under 9 World Cup 2018.
